Off to my training village.

It's so good to hear from you all! Thanks for sending your love. Tomorrow I'm off to my training village that located in the center of the country. There my language, cross-culture and tech. skills will improve immensely. For the last week I (as well as my follow trainees) have been in the Kombo area, which is the general city area of West/coastal Gambia. Although it still feels like Africa, leaving this area will be much different, authentic and "old world". I will have my very own hut within a family compound. I'm very excited!!

This will probably be the last time I can write on my blog spot for the next 8 weeks because there is no internet access in the training village. So start sending you letters! After training my time will open up immensely and I'll be able to elaborate on the tiny/cool details and post lots of pics too. Sending love to you all!
Hugs.

PS Congratulations baby sis!!!!!!!!! love you.

My dear darling Amber,
I miss you already! I can't believe you're actually that far away. Lisa, Rachael and I got together on Wednesday to celebrate her baby boy. How exciting!
I received your Economic Hardship deferment papers in the mail. They said that you have a grace period and it will need to be resubmitted in December. I will take care of this for you, but just wanted you to know what was going on. I will keep you informed and will take good care of you. I apologize for putting this on your blog, but I thought you needed to know right away. Is there a more private way to e-mail your information to you?
Love you with all my heart, Rebecca

Amber!!

You are so amazing! I am so proud of you- YOU ARE IN AFRICA!!! I was just reading a passage from Roots with a student and Kunta was talking about Mandinka and I said, "My friend is in
Africa learning Mandinka!" I still can't believe that you are there! You living your dream is truly an inspiration for me as I go through my daily life, I think about what you might be experiencing. Enjoy the adventure- the new sights, sounds, smells, smiles from new friends. Know that there are so many people here who miss and love you and we will be here for you when you get back from you journey.
Love and peace,
Tauna
